From the Department Head

Welcome to the Department of International Relations at Doğuş University, İstanbul. The systematic study of politics and international relations has always been a part of human existence and the basis of civilization.

Our faculty and students analyze the philosophical bases of political existence, politics, systems and institutions, power and relations in a wide array of settings and contexts. These include -but are not limited to- the investigation of the political, ideological and economic origins of our times that lie in history; democracy, autocracy, and democratization; international relations; the politics of gender and race; law and human rights; political economy and philosophy; foreign policy; and such topics as environmental politics. The geopolitical realities in regions including Europe, the US, the Middle East, Asia and Africa form a vibrant background and a comparative context to these investigations. Our program is open to international students, and we value their input to our university.

It is through a systematic scientific approach, an educated mind, and an open-minded attitude to science, politics and society that our faculty and students aim to make the world a better place. For this end, we are also lucky to have great assistance from our staff.
